I killed it, crushed it, rocked it, knocked it out of the park, and broke records yet it was not with talent but hard work.
Hard Work Beats Talent When Talent Does Not Work Hard.
Here’s what happened. 2018 was a year I will never forget for so many reasons but yesterday reminded me that hard work will take you places talent can’t. Today felt just like when I took so many classes in my undergraduate program I completed two Bachelor degrees by accident.
While I sat in my first annual regional review meeting at Mutual of Omaha based on 2018’s numbers, my name was on the board more times than I could count. I had no clue. I just worked hard. I sat quietly. It was super humbling and motivating.
What stood out the most was when my regional manager shared that as a first-year advisor with the company, I was ranked 4th or 5th in the whole country. That’s a 110-year-old company with offices everywhere. Plus, I was honored to be one of the few in our region to be in the 120% Club. That means I put more business in 6 months than the majority did in 12. And to cap it off I was one of two awarded the Sales Leader Round Table Award from my office which means I going on an all-expense paid first class trip to Las Vegas in April with the top producing advisors from the company.
Again, super humbling. I had no clue. I share all this because of what hard work could do for you. The talent is coming but its the result of hard work.
